PCB to get 12.5 million dollars compensation windfall
November 19th, 2009 - 2:38 pm ICT by ANILahore, Nov.19 (ANI): The Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) depleting bank account is set to get a boost through a 12.5 million dollar compensation for not hosting 14 matches of the 2011-World Cup because of security concerns.
According to sources, the PCB and the International Cricket Council (ICC) have mutually agreed to settle the World Cup hosting issues.
According to reports, the PCB will be getting 10.5 million dollars as hosting fee for the 14 matches, while the ICC will pay an additional two million dollars that the PCB could have earned from gate pass and parking charges during the matches.
The ICC had shifted the 2011 World Cup matches from Pakistan to the other three host nations after several foreign teams cancelled their tours to the country due to deteriorating law and order conditions.
The PCB had launched legal proceedings against the ICC. It included a legal notice to the apex cricket authority and a petition in a local court against the decision of shifting of the World Cup secretariat from Lahore to Mumbai. (ANI)
