PCB sidelined Afridi, Malik while selecting team for Dubai T20 series against England
February 10th, 2010 - 2:10 pm ICT by ANI ( Leave a comment )Karachi, Feb.10 (ANI): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) did not consult T20 captain Shahid Afridi, who is currently facing two T20 match ban on ball tampering charges, and former captain Shoaib Malik, before picking up the team for a brief T20 series against England in Dubai.
Well-informed sources said the PCB selection board decided against consulting Afridi and Malik, who has been made the captain for the T20 series to be played at the Dubai Sports City on February 18 and 19.
It is not clear as to why the PCB snubbed Afridi and Malik while selecting the team, sources said the board was being cautious by not seeking the swashbuckling all-rounder’s opinion, as he is facing an inquiry concerning ball-tampering charges.
Afridi was caught on camera chewing the ball during Pakistan’s fifth and final One-day International against Australia in Perth last week. He was banned for two Twenty20 Internationals by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for ball-tampering. (ANI)
