PCB pushing to host Test series against India in England
August 15th, 2009 - 1:01 pm ICT by ANILahore, Aug.15 (ANI): The Pakistan Cricket Board, as part of an out of court settlement with the International Cricket Council (ICC) on the 2011 World Cup hosting dispute, is pushing to host a Test and One-Day series against India in England.
According to a PCB insider, ICC president David Morgan, during his recent meeting with PCB chief Ijaz Butt, assured to convince the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the series.
“Morgan has made no promises but has assured Pakistan he would use his good offices to try to organise such a series next year,”The Daily Times quoted him, as saying.
He said the PCB has proposed playing three Tests, three one-dayers and a couple of Twenty20 matches against India next year.
“If India agrees the series could be squeezed in at a time when both teams are free of international commitments,” he added.
Earlier, the PCB, which had lodged a case against the ICC for stripping 2011 World Cup matches from Pakistan due to security reasons, agreed for an out of court settlement over the issue.
“We have decided 90-95 percent that the matter of the World Cup 2011 will be settled out-of-court as Pakistan remains the co-host of the mega event. The legal course has ended,” PCB chairman Ijaz Butt said.
Butt said the ICC has agreed to compensated Pakistan a ’substantial amount’ after it settles the matter out of the court. (ANI)
