Karachi, Jan.16 (ANI): Following receiving details by International Cricket Council (ICC) about the detention of fast bowler Mohammad Asif in Dubai, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has formed a three man committee to inquire into the whole issue.
A three-man inquiry committee appointed by the Board will soon begin its investigations against the pacer, who is currently suspended by the Board, The News quoted a PCB spokesman, as saying.
The ICC had also asked the PCB to explain its stand and future course of action in the issue.
Former Pakistani test cricketer Wasim Bari, PCBs medical expert Dr Sohail Saleem, and Asif Sohail will enquire into the whole issue in which the pacer was detained by the Dubai administration over charges of carrying an illegal substance (opium) while returning from India after participating in the IPL first season.
The spokesperson also charged the former Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the PCB Shafqat Naghmi, of delaying a decision in the matter.
The former PCB management ordered an inquiry into the matter, but Naghmi stole the file containing the order of inquiry along with the documents received from Dubai, he said.
Earlier, several Pakistani senators demanded a life ban on Asif for tarnishing the nations image by taking drugs to enhance his performance. (ANI)
