PCB boss Butt denies calling Yousuf to join team in England
July 17th, 2010 - 6:54 pm ICT by ANILondon, July 17 (ANI): Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ijaz Butt has rejected media reports regarding him talking to former skipper Mohammed Yousuf to come out of retirement and join the team in England for the second Test match against Australia at Headingly.
“The last time I spoke to Yousuf was when I was in Pakistan, I can categorically state that I have not spoken to Yousuf since I arrived in England,” Pak Passion.net quoted Butt, as saying.
Earlier, media reports claimed that following incumbent captain Shahid Afridi’s abrupt decision to quit Test captaincy, Butt had called Yousuf to join the national team for the second Test match starting July 21 to bolster the inexperienced batting line-up.
Reports also said that Yousuf had agreed to Butt’s request.
Yousuf had retired from international cricket in protest against the indefinite ban and fine imposed by the PCB following the winless tour of Australia in January February this tear
