Chandigarh, Oct 25 (IANS) The Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) is looking for new coach after former Pakistan captain Intikhab Alam, who was to return for a second stint this season, was appointed Pakistan’s national coach Saturday. “PCA will conduct a meeting Monday and will announce the name of the next coach of Punjab’s cricket team for the forthcoming season,” G.S. Walia, the joint secretary PCA, told IANS.

“PCA has (nothing against) Alam. In fact, we had sent him an invitation for this season but he could not come due to some reasons. However, national duty should always be the first preference for everyone, and we wish him best of luck in his new tenure,” he added.

Alam succeeded Australian Geoff Lawson, who was sacked by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Friday before the expiry of his two-year contract.
