patMiami, Jan 4, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The quarterback of the Miami Dolphins, Pat White, was injured in the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, Jan 3. The injury occurred in the third quarter of the game, with only 2mins and 5 seconds left for the quarter to come to an end. The player was attempting a 3rd down and 9th play when he ran with the ball in his hand toward the sidelines on the left, trying to make the 1st down. As he ducked, attempting to dodge Ike Taylor, he missed the 1st down by a fraction of a second. As Ike Taylor bore down on him, the two met on a head on collision, their helmets banging together.

After the hit, Pat White fell down on the ground, face down, and did not move. The other players who had gathered around him, from both the teams, waved to the paramedics team. As the trainers and doctors arrived, however, he began to move, moving his arms and legs a little. He was carted off the field by the paramedics team. He was taken to a hospital in Miami, where he was examined and it was found that he had suffered a concussion.

Later reports confirmed that Pat White had recovered and was able to move freely. The irony of the mater was, Pat White himself had been brought into the game as a replacement for Chad Henne, who suffered from blurred vision after being hit. Pat White was replaced by Tyler Thigpen, who played his first game as a Dolphin. The injury suffered by Pat White brings to mind the question, are the helmets used in the NFL not secure enough?
