Miami, Jan 4 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Former WVU quarterback Pat White suffered a concussion while he took a helmet-to-helmet hit from Steelers cornerback Ike Taylor. He was knocked out and though he gradually regained his senses, yet he was taken to the hospital. Later a Dolphin’s spokesman said White suffered a concussion, but was “doing good.”
And according to reports from the San Francisco Gate, “Pat White has been taken to the hospital for observation but seems to be moving okay,” says news feeds. Because of this injury due to a helmet to helmet crash, the Associated Press issued a report on helmet safety which stated that, “Hopefully the helmet testing, the congressional hearings, and the increasing awareness by the NFL players and owners, and the general public, of the short- and long-term dangers of concussions will someday result in a safer game of football”.
The whole accident happened on the 3rd down and 9 play with 2:05 left in the 3rd Quarter, when Pat White ducked down with the ball and ran left to the sideline to try and make a 1st down. He just missed as he was blasted by Taylor just as White headed for the sidelines. Just after the hit, Pat White was immobile, which worried the players and the coaches no end. Doctors and trainers rushed to help him and he was taken to the hospital, so that he gets prompt medical assistance as soon as possible.
