Pat Burns Rubbishes His Death Rumor, Says “I Am Alive”

patSep 18, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Celebrity death hoax has plagued the web world recently. The former coach of NHL, Pat Burns was rumored to be dead yesterday in a social networking site which shocked his friends and family to a great extent. However, later the former coach of QMJHL Hull Olympics confirmed that he is not dead and still alive.

Pat Burns son even called up a reputed radio station to say that his father is very much alive. On the other hand Bob McKenzie, the hockey commentator called the coach to get the authenticated news about the situation. The TSN’s commentator after talking to Pat Burns, immediately took to the homepage of his social networking site where he mentioned that he spoke with Pat Burns. The former coach told the editor-in-chief of “The Hockey News” that the media is trying to kill him before he is dead. However, Pat Burns asked the commentator to tell the media that he is “alive”.

The whole incident started off when a reputed media site reported in a social networking site that Pat Burns died yesterday. However, this news came as a shock to the sports fraternity and everybody started expressing their condolences for the former coach. The news was taken seriously because Toronto Maple Leafs executive Cliff Fletcher said that a friend had called him to say that Pat Burns passed away. Cliff Fletcher, however, latter issued a written apology where he maintained that he was misinformed by a friend and his “public comments” were not true. Pat Burns survived colon cancer in 2004 and liver cancer in 2005. Last year he had been diagnosed with cancer for the third time, and this time it is lung cancer.
