Pargat Singh to contest HI president’s post
July 16th, 2010 - 11:05 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, July 16 (IANS) Pargat Singh is the latest to throw his hat in the Hockey India (HI) elections, scheduled July 28, and the former India captain will contest for the president’s post.
Pargat will be filing his nomination before the returning officer Saturday.
HI president Vidya Stokes and secretary Narinder Batra will also contest the elections for the respective posts.
Besides the posts of president and secretary general, elections will be held for four joint secretary (2 men, 2 women), four vice president (2 men, 2 women), one senior vice president, treasurer, and five executive members.
As per the HI constitution, there should be forty percent representative of either gender in the new 17-member executive committee.
