Sydney, Jan 4 (IANS) Pakistan’s teenage pacer Mohammad Aaamer will be fit for the third and final Test against Australia in Hobart from Jan 14.
Aamer suffered a minor groin injury during the opening Test in Melbourne where he took a sensational five-wicket haul in the second innings to bring Pakistan back in the match. The groin injury, however, forced him to miss the ongoing second Test here in Sydney.
Team officials are confident that Aamer will get fully fit in time to feature in the final Test.
Pakistan manager Abdul Raqeeb said that Aamer has received some treatment and is responding well.
“He had some icing and will be resting for a few days,” said Raqeeb. “He was rested (for the Sydney Test) on the advice of the doctors because he was really stiff but hopefully he will be fully fit for Hobart.”
Mohammad Sami, who replaced Aamer in the playing eleven, bowled a brilliant spell with the new ball to rock the Australian top order Sunday.
He is expected to be retained for the Hobart Test and if Aamer gets fit he would most likely come in for Umar Gul, who has been unable to impress much in recent times.
