Pakistan simply awful in eerily empty stadium
January 23rd, 2011 - 6:49 pm ICT by ANIWellington (New Zealand), Jan.23 (ANI): Pakistan’s resistance against New Zealand in the first one-day international played here on Saturday, was as truly dismal as their 124 all out from 37.3 overs suggests.
Only Test captain Misbah Ul-Haq was obdurate, and for two overs, exciting, in making an 88-ball half-century, but his team-mates were rubbish.
New Zealand wicketkeeper Brendon McCullum’s five catches behind the stumps were more testament to Pakistan’s juvenile shot selection and Statue of Liberty foot movement, stuff.co.nz reports.
Pakistan’s coach, Waqar Younis summed it all up when he said: “A very poor day. We played below par. We didn’t play anywhere near our potential. New Zealand played outstanding cricket.” (ANI)
