Wellington, Jan 26(ANI): Pakistan is confident of making a strong comeback in the ongoing one-day series against New Zealand, team manager Intikhab Alam has said.
Speaking to SAMAA TV at Queenstown Events Center on Wednesday, Intikhab expressed his disappointment over the second one-day international (ODI) having been washed out due to incessant rains.
Pakistan made a breezy start to their innings, reaching 31 without loss off 4.2 overs with Ahmed Shahzad racing to 25 off 16 balls and Mohammad Hafeez on four, when the rains forced them off again within less than 20 minutes after the match began.
Earlier, a five-wicket haul from fast bowler Tim Southee and a quickfire half-century from Jesse Ryder had helped New Zealand win the first ODI match by nine wickets.
“We will try to win the third one-dayer to level the 6-match series,” Intikhab said. All players will be given an opportunity to show their performances in order to finalise an ideal combination for the upcoming World Cup, he added.
