Pak Senate committee on Sports not satisfied with PCB performanceJanuary 29th, 2009 - 2:46 pm ICT by ANI
Karachi, Jan.29 (ANI): It seems that the Pakistans senate committee on sports is not satisfied by the sacking of the captain of the national cricket team, Shoaib Malik, as it has now asked the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to submit copies of the reports filed by national coach Intikhab Alam and manager Yawar Saeed on Pakistans debacle against Sri Lanka in the last one day international last week.
According to The News, in a letter signed by committee chairman Zafar Iqbal Chaudhry and five other Senators, it has demanded that the PCB submit the reports as soon as possible.
“PCB should submit the reports of coach and manager of the Pakistan team which gave a dismal performance against Sri Lanka in the recently-concluded ODI series, the letter stated.
It has also asked the sacked captain Shoaib Malik, and other team officials to appear before the committee in a meeting in Islamabad on February 9.
The Senate Committee on Sports had initiated a probe after the home teams humiliating defeat against Sri Lanka by 234 runs.
The committee is not all impressed by the PCBs decision to hand over the captaincy to Younis Khan, and described him as a controversial player.
“The probe will go ahead especially because of the fact that new captain Younis is also a controversial cricketer,” Senator Enver Baig, a member of the Sports committee said.
“It would take more steps than just sacking the captain to satisfy us, he added. (ANI)
