Pak rookie Umar Amin set for Test debut at Lord’s
July 12th, 2010 - 2:49 pm ICT by ANILondon, July 12(ANI): Pakistan rookie Umar Amin is set for a Test debut in Tuesday’s opening match of the ‘home’ series against Australia at Lord’s.
The left-handed batsman may be included in the team for one available slot at the one-down position, ahead of Yasir Hameed and Azhar Ali.
“Umer has a better chance ahead of others as he has been in the team for more than a month and has gained experience and confidence to leave other contenders behind,” The News quoted a source, as saying.
“He has played some good innings in the tour and is in-form and shape to make his Test debut,” the source added.
The source also said that the team officials want a majority of the players touring with the team to get on field chances.
“We are to play six Tests and quite a few one-dayers here. It all depends on the performance and I think everyone would get their chance,” he said.
Squad (likely): Salman Butt, Imran Farhat, Umer Amin, Umer Akmal, Shoaib Malik, Shahid Afridi (Captain), Kamran Akmal (wicketkeeper), Mohammad Aamer, Umer Gul, Danish Kaneria and Mohammad Asif. (ANI)
