Pak needs to take full advantage of batting powerplays, says Misbah
March 7th, 2011 - 5:33 pm ICT by ANIPallekele (Sri Lanka), Mar 7(ANI): Pakistan vice-captain Misbah-ul-Haq reckons that his team is not taking full advantage of its batting powerplays at the World Cup.
Pakistan, who have won all three games of their campaign so far, will meet New Zealand in Pallakele, Sri Lanka.
“We must take powerplays more seriously because whosoever performs well during this period wins big games in the World Cup,” the Daily Times quoted Misbah, as saying.
“We need to have a plan for that (powerplays). Hopefully we will have that against New Zealand tomorrow,” he added.
The 36-year-old further insists that Pakistan is not a one-man team, and says that his side is ready to share captain Shahid Afridi’s burden.
Afridi has taken 14 wickets in the three games, winning two man of the match awards in the process.
“The best thing for a team is that the captain performs well, but other players are contributing, too. Having your captain playing so well and being the man of the match in every game is a real plus point for our team,” Misbah said.
“Everybody else is still focused and everybody else wants to play that role in the team in the coming games, perform well and take responsibility off him,” he added. (ANI)
