Pak NA committee asks Zardari to dismiss, Butt, Bari and Alam
December 18th, 2009 - 3:03 pm ICT by ANI ( Leave a comment )Islamabad, Dec. 18 (ANI) : Pakistan National Assembly Standing Committee on Sports has urged President Asif Ali Zardari, as the patron of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), to remove board chairman Ijaz Butt, Chief Operation Officer (COO) Wasim Bari and coach Intikhab Alam after they failed to attend the recent NA meeting.
“They (PCB officials) are not taking the committee seriously and these officials must be given a lesson because the Parliament of Pakistan is supreme,” The Dawn quoted committee’s chairman Jamshed Dasti, as saying.
During the meeting, the committee asked the PCB to explain the selection procedure of the under-19 team and the issues regarding the failure of the board to grant the No Objection Certificates (NOC) to the players on time, due to which Pakistani cricketers were unable to take part in the auctions for the third edition of cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL).
The committee has also recommended that a young and energetic team should be appointed in the PCB to make the board run smoothly and for the betterment of the game in the country. (ANI)
