Islamabad, Oct 7 (ANI): The Pakistan National Assembly Standing Committee has blasted Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ijaz Butt over his slackness and failure to tackle the alleged spot-fixing scam involving Pakistani cricketers.
“It’s unfortunate that Pakistan’s cricket matters are being handled by people like Ijaz Butt,” the Dawn quoted NA Sports Committee Chairman Iqbal Mohammad Ali, as saying.
He asserted that the committee’s credibility was at stake, as its recommendations were not being implemented.
“We recommended that Ijaz should be removed [as PCB chairman] but there was no action… I request Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani to take notice of this issue,” Iqbal said.
He also requested NA Speaker Fehmida Mirza to step in for saving the repute of the committee’s working as an accountability forum of the upper house.
Meanwhile, the NA Committee is all set to meet on October 12 to discuss Pakistan’s recent tour of England. An official of the NA committee disclosed that matters related to the match-fixing scandal would also be discussed. (ANI)
