New Delhi, Apr 14 (ANI): Union Sports Minister Ajay Maken on Thursday said Islamabad will have to ensure the security of Indian cricketers if India resumes bilateral cricketing ties with Pakistan, which has been suspended after the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks in 2008.

“This is something, which the Pakistan government has to ensure and I am hopeful that Pakistan government will, once they are inviting Indian team, the security aspect has to be taken care of by them,” Maken told reporters here.

Meanwhile, Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) Vice President Rajiv Shukla said the committee had not yet decided whether to resume cricket ties with Pakistan or not.

Shukla asserted that the committee could take a decision on the matter only after taking due consideration of all the aspects concerning both the nations.

He added that it was impossible to include any new series in the schedule of Indian cricket team, as the schedule for the next year had already been fixed.

“BCCI working committee would take a decision only after looking into all aspects including security concerns. Anyway, as the schedule for the next one-year is already fixed; we do not have any slot vacant right now, where we can fit a new series. I do not think it would be proper from my part to make a comment on this issue right now,” said Shukla.

India cancelled a tour to Pakistan in early 2009 in the wake of the Mumbai terror attacks and suspended all bilateral cricket ties with Pakistan. (ANI)
