Islamabad , Nov 6 (ANI): The PPP-led federal government in Pakistan has reportedly decided to reinstate all government employees who were recruited between November 1993 and November 1996, i.e. the PPPs previous regime, but sacked between November 1996 and December 1998, i.e. Nawaz Sharifs regime.
These employees include those working in the Sui Southern Gas Company.
They will retain their seniority and get back-salaries. The cabinet has directed all the departments to compile details of the employees sacked during the period, the Daily Times quoted the countrys Information Minister Sherry Rehman as telling reporters after a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani.
She added that a federal government committee consisting of Raza Rabbani, Ghulam Ahmad Bilour, Manzoor Wattoo, Naveed Qamar, Sherry Rehman, Rehmatullah Kakar, Shaukat Tareen and Abdul Razzaq Thaheem will work out the financial implications and oversee the implementation of the decision.
According to Sherry, the cabinet also reviewed relief measures for the victims of the Balochistan earthquake. The government had approved a cash compensation of Rs 25,000 and 15 corrugated galvanised iron (CGI) sheets each for 1000 houses destroyed in the earthquake, she said and added that Rs 31.44 million had already been made available for the purpose.
