Pak Foreign Minister describes US air strike as blatant negation of Pak sacrificesJune 13th, 2008 - 11:57 am ICT by ANI
Islamabad , June 13 (ANI): Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has reportedly described Tuesday nights US air strike on a checkpost along Afghanistan-Pakistan border killing 11 troops of the Frontier Cops (FC), as a blatant and willful negation of the sacrifices Pakistan has made in the war against terrorism.
He told this to NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer on Thursday, when the two leaders discussed the airstrike on the Pakistani checkpost in the Mohmand Agency.
Qureshi met the NATO Secretary General on the sidelines of International Conference in Support of Afghanistan in Paris , reported the Daily Times.
The minister conveyed the Pakistani governments reaction and the sentiments of the people of Pakistan on the senseless attack by the United States-led coalition forces, the paper quoted a Foreign Office statement as saying.
The statement quoted the NATO Secretary General as saying that the attack was truly regrettable and that an inquiry was being conducted.
Besides, the Pakistani foreign minister and the NATO official also discussed the security situation in Afghanistan , and the co-operation between Pakistan and NATO in the war on terror. The minister appreciated NATOs support to Pakistan in the wake of the October 2005 earthquake when a large number of NATO personnel participated in rescue and relief operations in the affected areas.
The NATO Secretary General also lauded Pakistan s contribution in the war against terrorism, saying NATO acknowledged the fact that Pakistan was a part of the solution, added the paper. (ANI)
