Pak fast bowlers using English conditions better than Aussies: Gul
July 23rd, 2010 - 5:04 pm ICT by ANILondon, July 23(ANI): Pakistani fast bowler Umar Gul has said that the Australian fast bowlers’ inability to utilize the favourable conditions in England has been the difference between the two sides.
After three innings with the ball - the two at Lord’s and the one on the first day at Headingley - Pakistan’s pace trio of Mohammad Aamer, Mohammad Asif and Gul has taken 23 wickets between them from 146 overs.
At the same time, Australian fast bowlers Doug Bollinger, Ben Hilfenhaus and Mitchell Johnson have bowled 111 overs, but have taken only seven wickets, 16 fewer than their Pakistani counterparts.
“So far in the first and second Tests we are bowling [better] than Australia because we are bowling full and our line and length is good, [compared to] the Australians,” The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Gul, as saying.
“When the clouds come it starts swinging, and when the sun is coming out it’s a bit flat and good for the batsmen, so it all depends on the clouds,” he added. (ANI)
