Pak cricket team will be crowd pleasers: Intikhab Alam
April 18th, 2011 - 4:32 pm ICT by ANISt Lucia, Apr 18(ANI): Pakistan team manager Intikhab Alam has said that West Indies cricket fans will be attracted to the style of play of the visiting team.
The team, which arrived here on Friday, is scheduled to play a Twenty20 International, five one-day internationals two Tests during the six-week trip.
“I have brought a very young side with me, and I am quite sure you are going to enjoy the type of cricket we are going to play,” the Dawn quoted Alam, as saying.
“On behalf of the team, I would like to thank everyone for the very warm welcome extended to us. It is always a pleasure to come to the Caribbean,” he added.
Alam further reiterated that his team has the potential to be highly successful on the Caribbean conditions.
“The conditions in the West Indies have changed significantly in recent years, and so we believe we have the players to deal with the challenge, particularly our spinners,” he said.
Pakistan will open the tour with a limited overs affair against the UWI Vice-Chancellor’s XI at the Mindoo Philip Park today.
The team is without four key players for the ODI leg of the tour, with wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal, Younis Khan, Abdul Razzaq and Umar Gul all left out for varying reasons. (ANI)
