Oz intensity has helped to raise our performance levels: LaxmanDecember 24th, 2007 - 2:27 pm ICT by admin
Melbourne, Dec.24 (ANI): Indian middle-order batsman V V S Laxman is of the view that the Australian cricket team’s intensity on the field has helped the Indian team raise its level of performance in recent years.
“Because of this intensity itself, I think we raised our level when we came here last time. The intensity at which the Australians play will help us raise our level and play at their level. That’s what we realised in 2003-04,” The Australian quoted Laxman, as saying.
India begins another four-Test series at the Melbourne Cricket Ground from Wednesday.
Laxman, 33, is a batsman who has dominated previous Australian attacks. In 16 Tests against Australia, Laxman averages 52, significantly above his career average of 44 in 86 Tests. In Australia, he averages almost 60.
After a prolific series here four years ago, when he averaged better than 82 with two centuries, it appears Laxman would be quite happy to call Australia home.
“I’ve always enjoyed playing in Australia, it’s a great place to play your cricket. It’s a great opportunity against a very good side,” he said. (ANI)
