Owen’s move to ManU can re-ignite his England career
July 15th, 2009 - 2:56 pm ICT by ANILondon, July 15 (ANI): Manchester United legend Bryan Robson believes that Michael Owen’s shock move to Old Trafford can re-ignite his England career.
Injury-plagued striker Owen made only 65 starts for Newcastle in four seasons, The Sun reports.
“He will be in and around the box and I can see him scoring a lot of goals. I can also see him getting back into the England squad,” Robson said.
“It is a great signing, getting someone like Michael in on a free transfer. He is a great player, he is only 29 and for me he is at the peak of his career.
“The way United play and the way they dominate possession will suit Michael’s game,” Robson said.
Robson is convinced that the former Real Madrid and Liverpool front man is in no better place to receive a high level of care, combined with injury prevention methods.
“The fitness coaches will have sorted out an individual regime for Michael. The manager is good at when to rest players and when to play them. That will help Michael,” he said.
Robson also insisted Owen’s new strike partner Wayne Rooney had grown as a player and a person.
“Wayne is a fiery lad but he has channelled that aggression well the last two seasons. He is a top player and is very important to United.” (ANI)
