Over 2,000 Punjab students to see Mohali match
October 31st, 2009 - 11:32 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Mohali (Punjab), Oct 31 (IANS) Over 2,000 students from different schools in Punjab will come to the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) stadium here to witness the day-night match between India and Australia Monday, an official said Saturday.
“Over 2,000 students from various towns and villages of Punjab will come here Monday to see the match,” PCA president I.S. Bindra told reporters.
India and Australia will play the fourth match of the seven-match series under floodlights Monday.
“We are all set to host this match and all our preparations are in place. Curator of the pitch Daljeet Singh is working hard to make a better wicket and we expect 550 runs to be scored on this wicket Monday,” said Bindra, who is also the principal advisor to International Cricket Council (ICC).
“Teams will arrive here tomorrow (Sunday) and Australian team will do the practice in the afternoon. We have added a new facility of floodlights in the indoor practice area. All the tickets, except few of terrace block and upper class, have been sold. Apart from local crowd, we are expecting around 400-500 Australian supporters to come here.”
Bindra said many dignitaries including Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Shashank Manohar, Cricket Australia president Jack Clarke and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Ijaz Butt are expected to come to the PCA stadium to see the match Monday.
