Jan 14, (THAINDIAN NEWS) No matter what the outcome of the second round of NFL playoff be, the fact remains that in either case, the Catholic Charities would be benefited. This is because, according to a friendly deal between Pittsburgh’s Bishop David A. Zubik and Baltimore’s Archbishop Edwin F. O’Brien, the losing team will have to make a donation to an organization, that would be decided by the winning team. Baltimore’s Archbishop Edwin F. O’Brien, has already decided that if Steelers loses, then their donation would go to “Our Daily Bread”, that aims to provide meal to the poor people of Baltimore.
The match would take place between Baltimore Ravens and the Pittsburgh Steelers on January 15. The two Catholic leaders have promised each other that if the Ravens win the match, Bishop David A. Zubik, would donate to the charity Our Daily Bread. It is a Catholic Charity program in Baltimore that serves hot meal to more then 250,000 people every year. This organization is located in Fallsway in Baltimore. Bill McCarthy, Executive Director of Baltimore Catholic Charities, is quite excited and happy about this deal, as the victory of the Ravens would feed some poor people of Baltimore. Similarly, if the Steelers win, then Archbishop Edwin F. O’Brien will make a donation to any of the Catholic Charities of Bishop David A. Zubik’s choice.
This deal has stirred a fair and light competition between both the religious leaders. Archbishop O’Brien said that he wants the opponents to make a donation at Our Daily Bread. He is also hoping desperately that the Ravens’ win as he has a great faith on the team’s coach, John Harbaugh, who has been a student in the catholic school. He is sure that the coach would do everything to get a step closer to the Super Bowl and enable the donation at Our Daily Bread. Bishop David A. Zubik on the other hand, has asked all the Steelers fans to pray for its victory as that would amount to some charity in Pittsburgh while getting them closer to the Super Bowls.
