New Delhi, Oct 15 (IANS) Indian Olympic Association (IOA) secretary general Randhir Singh Thursday said the Organising Committee would maintain transparency at all levels as pointed out by Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) president Michael Fennell.
Randhir, who had been vocal in admitting the lapses in the Games preparations, said: “There are 23 sub-committees working under the Organising Commitee and it is our responsibility to see that they function properly and make it totally transparent. We will be sending the progress report to the Prime Mniister, Sports Minsiter and all the stake holders, including the media.”

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) Thursday rejected the CGF’s decision to appoint a high-powered technical panel to monitor the progress of the Games every month, and stressed there already are too many agencies overseeing the preparations.

“The CGF should have more faith in the Coordination Commission because in every big event starting from Olympics to Asian Games, it is the Coordination Commission that monitors the preparations,” Randhir said.

“In whatever areas we are lacking, we will sort out and be ready before the Coordination Commission’s visit in December.”

In another move that could incense the CGF, the Organising Committee (OC) of the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games also recommended the “repatriation” of CGF chief executive officer Mike Hooper, who is based in Delhi for two years now.

IOA president and Organising Committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi said the move would not put IOA in confrontation with CGF.

“Question of a collision with CGF doesn’t arise. We had great relations with Mr. Fennell and we welcome the suggestions of CGF. “
