Even Jacquizz Rodgers ran 166 yards for 26, (which is unexpected as he was recuperating from a shoulder injury),while his brother contributed equally to knit up a great team effort by a critical 4-yard TD grip in the 3rd quarter that put Beavers at an advantageous position (2-0) up 20-7.

It surely came as a blow to Mike Sanford, head coach of UNLV,that after winning 5 games last season his team did not show the do-or-die spirit. Mike who recently told sources that having a good historical record definitely plays on the psychology of the players was also reported to have confessed that it was a “completely different scenario, and a completely different team” that they were facing. Oregon only reiterated that it was a team not to be taken without preparation, and has a line of enviable achievements having beaten USC, Arizona, Arizona State and Pittsburgh in the previous season.

Omar Clayton showed some great power as a QB, scoring 18 TD passes in the previous season, which was the greatest ever achieved by a UNLV QB eve rsince 1997. Clayton in combination with Ryan Wolfe took the offense to an all new height. The pace was set by them in the game.

UNLV demonstrated its true competitive spirit in the all powerful 38-3 victory that it achieved over Sacramento State, executing commendable offense schemes and administering 250 passing yards and 216 rushed yards. Comparatively in its battle against Oregon State it showed surprising deflation, and faulty schemes.
