Oregon Linebacker Casey Matthews Carries On Family Legacy

casey-matthewsScottsdale, Jan 11, (THAINDIAN NEWS) It must not come as a surprise that Casey Matthews, Oregon linebacker leads his team during tight times and is also a semifinalist for the Lott IMPACT Trophy as well as the Butkus Award this season. His sporting prowess is something that he has inherited from his family considering the fact that his brother Clay Matthews is the top defense in the National Football League in the Green Bay Packers. Moreover, his dad, Clay Matthews Jr., remained an all-pro linebacker for the Cleveland Browns during the 1970s and has a national championship trophy to his name. Despite his family legacy, the player could do much to save his team from the defeat that they had to endure from the hands of Auburn Tigers during the Monday night BCS title game.

Apart from his father and brother, the Oregon linebacker’s uncle, Bruce Matthews was a Hall of Fame offensive lineman in the NFL. Prior to Sunday night’s game, Casey Matthews said in an interview his mom had asked him to be slightly insane with Monday night’s play. However, despite giving his best shot, the player failed to ensure his team’s victory during the game which ended up in a total disaster for the Oregon Ducks.

With the sporting prowess that he has displayed, Casey Matthews he was widely considered as one of the most talented young linebackers of the season. During this year, the player has scored 73 tackles, there sacks as well as three interceptions for his team. Being the descendant of a family of players, Casey Matthews is surely expected to be one of the prominent names in NFL in the years to come.
