ONGC beat Air India to win Lal Bahadur Shastri hockey
December 3rd, 2011 - 8:35 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Dec 3 (IANS) Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) defeated Air Inida 4-2 in a tie breaker to win the Lal Bahadur Shastri hockey tournament at the Dhyan Chand National Stadium here Saturday.
Akash scored the first goal for ONGC in the 15th minute before Somanna Pradhan equalised in the 30th minute.
Akash gave the lead back to ONGC with a 46th minute strike. But Vinod Pillay converted a penalty corner in the 62nd minute to make it 2-2.
In the tie breaker, Pramod and Gagan scored for ONGC while Air India could not score any goal.
ONGC had also won the Nehru Cup hockey title last week, beating Punjab National Bank (PNB XI).
