Omitting Walcott out of England 2010 World Cup squad a mistake: Capello
January 28th, 2011 - 4:52 pm ICT by ANILondon, Jan 28(ANI): England manager Fabio Capello has confessed that he had made a mistake by leaving winger Theo Walcott out of last year’s World Cup.
Capello says that he omitted Walcott, as he was not fit enough to play full games having just returned from injury.
“I made a mistake not selecting Theo. He is one of the players who can make the difference. I should have taken him,” the Sun quoted Capello, as saying.
The 64-year-old has vowed that Walcott will be an integral part of his England set-up while he is in charge.
“What I’m really happy about is that Theo is back. He is playing how I remember when he started with us. If he is fit, he can play from the start,” Capello said. (ANI)
