Olympics: Hungarian duo wins Kayak gold
August 8th, 2012 - 5:28 pm ICT by IANSLondon, Aug 8 (IANS/RIA Novosti) The Hungarian pair of Rudolf Dombi and Roland Kokeny had just enough energy left to hold off a late charge from a Portuguese duo and take gold in the men’s 1,000-metre K2 kayak sprint Wednesday.
Dombi and Kokeny won in a time of 3:9.646 seconds, just 0.053 seconds ahead of Portugal’s Fernando Pimenta and Emanuel Silva.
Bronze went to Germany’s defending champions Martin Hollstein and Andreas Ihle, a further half-second behind the winners.
