Olympic taekwondo: Tazegul scores gold for Turkey
August 10th, 2012 - 8:17 pm ICT by IANSLondon, Aug 10 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Servet Tazegul of Turkey won Olympic taekwondo gold in the men’s 68kg weight class here Thursday.
Tazegul, the World No.1 and 2008 bronze medallist, narrowly beat Mohammad Bagheri of Iran 6-5 on points.
“I have worked for this since 2008 when I got the bronze medal. I reached my goal,” Tazegul said.
“This medal is in memory of my mother. I lost her not long ago.”
Earlier, Terrence Jennings of the US and Afghanistan’s Rohullah Nikpai won bronze medals.
