London, Sept 26 (ANI): Olympic stars have reportedly
backed British athletes’ decision to go to India for the Commonwealth Games
despite concerns over the poor facilities.

Speaking at the 2010 Olympic Ball, sporting legends
like Sir Steve Redgrave, Jonathan Edwards and Jessica Ennis said they were
confident the competitors’ safety would not be at risk.

Swimmer Karen Pickering, who won four Commonwealth
gold medals in her career and is also participating in the Delhi Games, said
she has every faith in the decisions to send teams out.

“The managers, unless they are completely sure,
are not going to put their athletes at risk.

I think all the athletes have to have absolute
faith in their management that they’re not going to be put in a difficult
situation,” Sky News quoted Pickering, as saying.

Hockey star Crista Cullen, who is due to compete in
Delhi on October 3 said that she is not worried about the facilities at the
athletes’ village.

“Having spent my whole life in Kenya, living
conditions are not really that much of a concern for me. I’m just looking
forward to getting out there and seeing it for myself,” she added. (ANI)
