Oct. 16 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Oliver Wahlstrom is the newest kid in the Ice Hockey block. When we say ‘kid’, we really mean it, for Oliver has been but nine winters in the world, and already plays like a professional.
Oliver, team member of the Portland Junior pirate Pee-Wee Major 97s is a 12-year-old league. At nine, Oliver is easily one of the youngest. However, that doesn’t seem to be a problem for the whiz-kid. After all, he has given them enough reason to thank their stars that they chose him.
Oliver’s winning shot, besides it’s sheer spectacle, is also noteworthy because of the fact that he seemed somewhat distracted. The object that had diverted his attention was the latest edition of the TD Banks’ Mini 1-on-1 Challenge, an in-game video series, which he was busy recording. Then, he just scooped the puck on his stick and shot past the goalie, ho was so unprepared that he did not even get the chance to move.
Oliver showed rare talent in the shot. What he did could not merely be achieved via practice; it is god’s gift. It was drop-dead gorgeous even by professional standards. Given that it is only a nine year old that scored it, it was simply awesome. It was back-handed, lacrosse style, and it was unbelievable coming from a pint-sized kid.
All we can say is, it’s all in the genes. Oliver’s father, a vet, was a professional hockey player and is the general manager of Oliver’s team.
We may not know much about him, but looks like we will soon. After all, he seems set to becoming a celebrity.
