Jan 28, (THAINDIAN NEWS) A severe blow has rendered to the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday after the NBA announced of the suspension of Memphis Grizzlies’ guard O.J. Mayo after he tested positive for a substance that NBA does not permit its players to take. O.J. Mayo had tested positive for the banned substance DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone). On account of having violated the league rules NBA has suspended the basketball player from appearing in the next ten games.
According to sources, O.J. Mayo has admitted his fault saying that he had committed an ‘honest mistake’ saying that he was unaware that the over-the-counter supplement that he had taken contained such a steroid that was banned by the NBA. The Grizzlies guard expressed his concern over the grave situation saying that he was indeed disappointed for he now will have to miss ten games which is quite a long stretch. In a statement released by the Memphis Grizzlies, it came up that O.J. Mayo had said that his disappointment was all the more because his team is right now all set for the playoffs. The tenure for his suspension will follow from Friday night itself when the Memphis Grizzlies will be playing against the Philadelphia 76ers.
The suspended guard has apologized not only to his team but also to his team mates and his fans whom he has disappointed throughly by failing at the anti-drug program of the basketball union. He confessed that he himself is solely responsible for whatever has happened admitting that it was a serious mistake on his part of indulging into prohibited substances without doing proper researches on it.
