Oct 20, (THAINDIAN NEWS) An Ohio woman has filed a lawsuit in Medina County Court last month, claiming that she was forced to hand over a $10,000 LeBron James jersey pendant to the mother of the NBA star’s business manager.
VaNeisha Robinson of Akron, the woman who filed the lawsuit, said that she had to let go of the pendant out of fear for her safety. She said that Katherine Powers had invited her to the house in July, on the false pretext of buying the pendant from her.
She reportedly arrived at the house, with family and a friend, to find eight or nine men along with Katherine Powers waiting for her, who held them against her will. She had to let go of the pendant under the circumstances. She revealed that she had found the pendant in a box of items, which she bought at a garage sale for $5 about five years ago. However she only realized its value in the month of May when she had it appraised by a professional.
Maverick Carter, the CEO of LeBron James’ marketing company and son of Katherine Powers, said that the pendant was stolen from him three years ago. The pendant was reportedly worn by James LeBron before he went to Miami heat. The lawsuit filed by VaNeisha Robinson has made several allegations against them, which includes false imprisonment, civil theft, conspiracy and infliction of emotional distress. The women has made monetary claims along with the return of the pendant.
She has sought an amount of $25,000 for each of the charges mentioned in the lawsuit. Katherine Powers and Maverick Carter while confirming the visit of VaNeisha Robinson to their home to hand over the pendant have denied the other charges and asked for a dismissal of the lawsuit.
