Karachi, April 28(ANI): Pakistan’s limited-overs captain Shahid Afridi has said that his team’s topmost priority is to seal the ongoing series against the West Indies.

Pakistan have taken a 2-0 lead in the five-match series against the West Indies after registering a comfortable eight-wicket win in the first ODI on Saturday, and a seven-wicket win on Monday.

“We’ll give our best to seal the series which is our main focus. It will boost the morale of the young team,” Afridi told The Express Tribune from Bridgetown.

“The conditions will be a bit overcast and that will be taken into consideration,” he added.

Pakistan’s limited-overs squad for the Caribbean tour includes five players yet to play for the senior team- wicketkeeper Mohammad Salman, batsman Usman Salahuddin, allrounder Hammad Azam and pacers Sadaf Hussain and Junaid Khan.

Afridi said that he was satisfied with the performance of his young brigade, which has done well so far.

“I’m happy with the performance of the young players and they are stepping up to the challenge,” said Afridi, while hoping for a better show from left-arm fast-bowler Junaid Khan in the remainder of the series.

“It’s not appropriate to expect a youngster to become a star overnight. He needs time, and hopefully, he would improve in the remaining matches,” he added.

Junaid, who made his international debut on the ongoing Caribbean tour, has played two ODIs and a Twenty20 against the West Indies, but is yet to get off the mark in the wickets column. (ANI)
