Richard SeymourPittsburgh, Nov 22, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The humiliating defeat that Oakland Raiders had to endure on Sunday against Pittsburgh Steelers came as a rude shock to not only the fans of the former team but to the Raiders players as well. For Richard Seymour, the defensive end of the Oakland Raiders, the defeat at the hands of the Steelers was something too difficult to bear as the player went ahead and punched quarterback Ben Roethlisberger while the Pittsburgh Steelers plater was celebrating a touchdown pass. Although later the Raiders player expressed his apology for his violent action on the field, chances are high that he might face a suspension due to his act during Sunday’s game.

The incident took place during the second quarter of the game when the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback was able to deliver a touchdown that gave his team a lead of 21-3. As expected Ben Roethlisberger was overjoyed and was celebrating with teammate Flozell Adams before talking to Richard Seymour, who turned around and struck the Pittsburgh Steelers player on his face. Although the Raiders defensive end has attracted criticism for his action on the field, his teammates have emphasized that Ben Roethlisberger must have surely said something to the player who left him enraged and instigated Richard Seymour to hit him.

Following the incident, the Oakland Raiders defensive end apologized to his team members and added that he never wanted to get involved in anything that would hurt his team. However, Richard Seymour noted that he has no idea why the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback ran up to him during the game while defending his action by saying that punching him was his natural reaction.
