NYC marathon 2010 winners’ list is topped by Gebre Gebremariam

New York, Nov 8 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The New York Marathon came off with more than 40,000 participants taking part. The New York Marathon is arguably the biggest such event in the world and it didn’t disappoint on such note. The event was not short of controversy and disappointment.

The race was won by debutant Gebre Gebremariam from Ethiopia. The Ethiopian won his first marathon race and it was in grand style because he chose New York to do that. For winning the race, Gebre Gebremariam will receive $130,000. His winning time was 2:08:14 though that is not yet official. The time is one of the best in the history of the marathon.

The second position in the men’s division was picked by Emmanuel Mutai of Kenya. He clocked an unofficial time of 2:09:17 with Kigen Kipkosgi picking the third position with the unofficial time of 2:10:39. Kigen Kipkosgi is also a Kenyan.

The female division was won by Edna Kiplagat of Kenya. She clocked 02:28:20. The next lady to finish the race was Shalane Flanagan of the United States. She clocked 02:28:40 to push another Kenyan, Mary Keitany to the third position with a time of 02:29:01.
