NWFP CM warns of use of force against Taliban

Peshawar, July 21 (ANI): North West Frontier Province (NWFP) Chief Minister Amir Haider Hoti on Monday warned that his government would be forced to resort to force against the Taliban if they refused to come forward for talks.

Addressing members of the provincial cabinet here, Hoti said the government is interested in resolving all issues through talks.

Later, the Provincial Minister for Information, Mian Iftikhar Hussain, said that the NWFP Government would not hesitate to deploy force if the other side rejects an invitation to dialogue.

Regarding Pakistan Taliban leader Baitullah Mehsuds threat to the NWFP government, Hussain said the government would not be demoralized and would never surrender before militants.

Hussain said the government would ensure the protection of life and property at all costs.

He also said that the provincial government would remain committed to the peace accord reached with the local Taliban in Swat and all the terms of the agreement will be fulfilled.

Regarding the unrest in Hangu, he said the government is ready to hold negotiations to resolve the situation there. (ANI)
