North top, Central second in women’s national cricket
December 7th, 2011 - 6:46 pm ICT by IANSChennai, Dec 7 (IANS) Central Zone beat West Zone by 139 runs to finish second behind North Zone in the women’s national limited overs cricket championship that concluded here Wednesday.
North were already assured of the title when they topped the five-team league with 17 points Tuesday, while Central finished with 15, ahead of South (9), West (2) and East
(-3).
In the other game Wednesday, South defeated East by six wickets in a low-scoring encounter.

East Zone 82 in 40.2 overs (Gouher Sultana 4 for 12, Sunanda Yetrekar 3 for 13) lost to South Zone 84 for 4 in 32.3 overs (Mamtha Kanojia 51 not out, Resha Rawal 24, Annyesha Maitra 2 for 8).
Central 230 for six in 50 overs (Sulakshana Naik 33, Mona Meshram 27, Mithali Raj 62, Rumeli Dhar 42, Poonam Raut 35 not out, Trupti Khot 2 for 50) beat West Zone 91 in 38.5 overs (Ekta Bisht 4 for 31, Rumeli Dhar 3 for 20, Nooshin Al Khadeer 2 for 15).
