‘No uncertainty’ over Ganguly in Knight Riders: official

Kolkata, March 24 (IANS) Indian Premier League (IPL) side Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) Tuesday scotched speculation about Sourav Ganguly’s place in the team saying the former Indian captain was a certainty as a player.
“Take it from me. There is no uncertainty about Ganguly being selected. He will be there in the squad,” KKR Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Joy Bhattacharya told IANS.

Earlier, media reports had said that KKR’s director of cricket operations John Buchanan was not keen on including Ganguly in the team for the coming IPL season in South Africa, as he was unhappy with the ex Indian captain’s fitness.

Meanwhile, two days after Buchanan raised doubts about Ganguly’s captaincy of the side, the left hander held a meeting with the former Aussie coach though there was not much indication over the ice melting between the two.

Buchanan had created a flutter Sunday with his remarks that the KKR was yet to decide on the leadership issue.

Later, Buchanan had expressed himself in favour of a rotating captaincy in a match.

The KKR owners or other team officials have not come out officially on the captaincy issue.
