valezJuly 25, (THAINDIAN NEWS) On Saturday, the San Francisco Giants outfielder Eugenio Velez was hospitalized after being hit on the head by a foul ball, struck by fellow team mate Pat Burrell. The player who fell on to the ground immediately was attended by the team’s physicians and then carried out of the dugout on a stretcher. He was rushed to a local hospital immediately. Although initially it seemed that the player might have suffered some internal injuries, later the manager of the San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy mentioned to media sources that Eugenio Velez was doing fine and that the CT scan report has yielded negative result. However, the manager also added that the player will remain in the hospital for a night as some further tests would be carried out by the doctors. He seems to be out of danger.

The incident took place at Saturday during the game between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the San Francisco Giants. During the fourth innings of the game, Pat Burrell fouled a ball that flew towards the San Francisco Giants Dugout. While others saved themselves by moving out of the path of the ball, Eugenio Velez who was sitting at the top bench of the dugout could not react fast as his view was blocked and suffered the injury at the left side of his head.

Manager Bruce Bochy said to media sources that the player although suffered great pain due to the hit, he had not lost his consciousness for once. The manager also added that the player was speaking to the visitors lying on the hospital bed.
