No Hot Spot for India-England ODI series
October 6th, 2011 - 2:49 pm ICT by IANSHyderbad, Oct 6 (IANS) Hot Spot technology will be not be in use dduring the forthcoming five match One-day series between India and England that begins here Oct 14.
Warren Brennan, the chief executive of BBG Sports the company behind the technology, admitted Hot Spot did not perform to expectations during India’s just-concluded tour of England and felt it did not have Indian cricket board’s support for its use.
The BCCI and BBG Sports had reached an agreement earlier in the year to use Hot Spot for India’s home series.
“BBG Sports is disappointed at how the Hot Spot performed in the UK during the England v India series. There were several incidents where we were hoping for better outcomes from the technology,” espncricinfo quoted Brennan as saying.
“Following the comments by Mr. Srinivasan on September 20th in relation to Hot Spot and the DRS process, BBG Sports believed it did not have the support of the BCCI and promptly decided not to bring the Hot Spot to India for their upcoming home series.”
The Hot Spot did not prove to be effective during the India-England series and was criticised by Board of Control for Control in India (BCCI).
