ski Vancouver, Feb 11 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The female ski jumpers tried to put an end to the Olympic ski jumping 86-year-old history, as a men’s only sport. But they lost the legal battle, and ski jumping continues to be a men’s only sport. So the female ski jumpers are going to cool their heels and watch, as the men will compete for the Olympic medals in this particular sport. The young Austrian sensation Gregor Schlierenzauer is said to be the top favorite at the event.

Several women already compete for the ski jumping at the World Cup level, and they were hoping that they would also be able to showcase their skills at the Olympic level, but their hopes were completely dashed, as they lost the legal battle. The Olympic organizers said that it couldn’t be an Olympic event for the women, as they say that the female jumpers are not good enough at the Olympic level. They also said that another reason for the non-inclusion of females in the sport is that they are not enough world-class female athletes for the sport.

Gian Franco Kaspar, president of the International Ski Federation said in 2005, that ski jumping “seems to not be appropriate for the ladies from a medical point of view.”
