New Delhi, August 13 (ANI): National Knowledge Commission Chairman Sam Pitroda today in his vision statement stressed for generational change to bring in quality education and change the educational scenario in the country.
Speaking at the NKC seminar on Building Indias Knowledge Economy, Pitroda said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will provide 65 billion dollar to revamp the educational scenario in the country.
He emphasised on the proper allocation, deregulation of institutional set up and public private partnerships.
A crisis exists in the Educational sector due to lack of teachers, outdated course content and obsolete methods of teaching and about 1500 Universities having the requisite environment and facilities were needed to fill the gap, Pitroda said.
He also mentioned that times had changed where the teachers had to play roles more as mentors than as mere teachers and bring reform in their teaching through e-learning.
There was also a need to put public pressure to bring changes in system through blend of public private partnerships, Pitroda added. (ANI)
