Dec. 06, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Nike Cross country race Championships were held on the Dec. 05, Saturday. It is the annual meet organized by Nike. This year’s race was the sixth installment of the event. It is part of the Nike National Series that is held in the effort to promote the spirit of competition. The other events in this meet are the Nike Outdoor Nationals, Nike Indoor Nationals and the Nike Web Nationals.

The cross country team of the Wilmington XC were placed 14th on the Nike Cross Nationals championship race. The team comprised the members of the Tatnal School. The best individual finish was made by Haley Pierce. She finished 7th in the race. The cross country race for men was won by the boys of Boerne Champion. They won the National Championship by six points.

The high point of the championships was the participation and win of those who had not been able to take part last year, but made it this year. One such is Katie Flood, who had not been able to participate in the race last year on account of a sore knee. This time, however, she not only participated, but also won the individual title, outrunning Kathleen Stevens.

The other one was Payton Schutte of the Jesuits. She was too sick to take part in the game, and as she confessed later on, was not in the game emotionally. Even as she ran, she feared that she might pass out any moment. She stayed on, thanks to her friends and acquaintances, and made it to the top 10.
