nfrDec 3, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The NFR 2010 kicked off from Thursday, Dec. 2 and will continue till December 11 in Las Vegas at the Thomas & Mack Center. The city thereby hosts the 26th year the annual event, where cowboys from all over the nation have come to the venue.

The total number of people who have come to the venue adds up to more than 17,000. The organizers have assured that the event is not just about Rodeo. It would also include a good deal of gambling and refreshments. The main seven events of the NFR 2010 are saddle bronc riding, bull riding, bareback riding, calf roping, team roping, steer wrestling and barrel racing. The top 15 regular season finishers in these events will qualify for the finals, where they would clash for a certain amount of prize money. The total money that has been invested for Wrangler National Finals Rodeo is $5.9 million.

Since the last few days, there have been controversies regarding the possibilities of changing the venue from Las Vegas to the newly opened Cowboys Stadium in Dallas. The president of Las Vegas Events, who is informally negotiating to extend the contract, to host the event beyond 2014, has argued that Dallas only offers a stadium, while they offer an entire city. Las Vegas has hosted all the 25 previous annual event of NFR. The fans who love it in the city are under the impression that it would be terrible if it is shifted to Dallas. Some of them feel that Las Vegas is the perfect venue for the event, while others feel that NFR would lose its charm if they are taken out of Las Vegas.
